This Privacy Policy (“Policy”) describes the policies and practices of Bluefire Studios LLC (“we” or “us”) as to the collection, use and disclosure of information that we collect from you when you visit, access or use the PowerOutage.us website, https://poweroutage.us (the “Service”) either by visiting the Service directly, by visiting another of our URLs that redirects to the Service, such as https://poweroutage.us, or by accessing the Service in connection with an agreement between us and another organization (including users who have access to Map Widgets that some organizations make available pursuant to agreements with us). This Policy applies only to the Service and not to any other products, services or websites owned, operated or made available by Bluefire Studios LLC or any of its members. How We Collect Information

We collect information in these ways:

User-Provided Information.

We ask users to manually provide us with their contact information if they would like to receive email notifications about outages, and we may invite users to manually input other information in other cases as well, including information about their language preferences and interests.

When you use the Service, we or various third-party companies that we use to provide the Service (“Third-Party Services,” detailed below) may automatically collect or generate information including but not limited to the Internet Protocol (“IP”) address of your computer; geographic information; a unique user ID; the type of browser, device or operating system you use; referring services or websites; search information; and usage and browsing information.

We refer to all of the information described in this section as “Collected Information.”

How We Use Collected Information

We use Collected Information to deliver services to you and for communicating with you about the Service. We use various Third-Party Services to operate the Service. These include Google Analytics, Microsoft Azure Application Insights and may in the future include email services and other third-party services. By using our Service, you consent to our providing Collected Information with Third-Party Services to be used in accordance with their own privacy and security policies as they exist today and as they may change in the future.

The security of your Collected Information is very important to us. We use reasonable efforts to protect it from unauthorized access, but we cannot guarantee that your Collected Information will be free from unauthorized access by third parties such as hackers. By using the Service, you (a) consent to our using your Collected Information as described in this Policy notwithstanding this risk; (b) waive any claims against us relating to the interception, use or disclosure of Confidential Information by third parties unauthorized by us; and (c) agree to notify us promptly if you suspect any unauthorized usage of Confidential Information.

Cookies

When you use the Service, we or our Third-Party Services may use “cookies” to collect information about how you use it. Cookies are text strings that a website can send to a visitor’s web browser to enhance users’ web experience. They may do so by storing users’ IDs or passwords and personalizing web pages, for example. We may also use cookies from time to time to assist us in advertising the Service.
